The FT-8 is a 1U rack mountable 8 channel fiber optic isolator. It uses standard 2.2 mm plastic fiber that is simply cut to the needed length. No special fiber termination or polishing is required. Designed with flexibility in mind, each channel has both a fiber optic output as well as a BNC output. The BNC outputs can be used to trigger additional FT-8 units when multiple units are used together, to control other equipment, or to monitor that a channel is working correctly.

Each channel on the FT-8 can be controlled independently, or they can all be operated synchronously using the master BNC input. The FT-8 can also be fully controlled using the 68 pin back panel SCSI connector that integrates seamlessly with multiple National Instruments timing and control cards. A second 68 pin SCSI connector passes through unused channels, so a single National Instruments card could be used to control multiple FT-8s. Sample LabVIEW VIs are available.

The FT-8 is designed to interface with EHT’s line of fiber optic receiver products, charge/dump controllers, switches, and power supply products. The fast rise and fall times and low jitter are ideal for applications which require precision timing.
